Monaco Tour de France


The 2009 cycling Tour de France kicked off on July 4 2009 in Monaco, with the Principality making its Grand Depart debut with a 15 kilometre time trial.

Though Monaco has hosted five stage finishes in the past, the last time in 1964, it has never started the Grand Boucle.

The opening time trial of the 2009 Tour followed the Grand Prix circuit.

The race's second stage on July 5 also set off from Monaco.
